Walt Disney World has announced that Kali River Rapids will be closing early next month for a refurbishment. Longtime theme park fans will notice that this is an early refurbishment compared to the typical refurbishment cadence. Usually, Kali River Rapids would close in January for a multi-month refurbishment. In 2025, Kali River Rapids will break that cycle, and for good reason. Here’s the latest.
Kali River Rapids Refurbishment
Kali River Rapids will be temporarily closed for refurbishment beginning October 6, 2025, and is expected to reopen in December 2025.
For the past three years, Kali River Rapids has closed in January and reopened in March or February. Disney World performed a late-year refurbishment in 2021 from November to December, but an October closure is well outside of the norm.
The thought is that by performing an earlier-than-normal refurbishment of the attraction from October to December, Kali River Rapids will be open to guests well before the February 2nd closure of DinoLand USA and the DINOSAUR attraction.
