In an interview with local media, Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Administrator Glen Gilzean says that he’ll step down from the position. Ever since Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Glen Gilzean to be the Supervisor of Elections for Orange County, both Gilzean and the District’s PR department have been quiet about his employment status.

Now, in an interview with Greg Angel of Spectrum News 13 Orlando, Gilzean says he’ll step down from the Administrator position. The admission from Gilzean comes on the same day when DeSantis’ office made clear that they want one of DeSantis’ longtime advisors to take over the CFTOD Admin role.

In an earlier statement on social media, Gilzean said that there would be a transition, but said that there would only be an acting director during his “unavailability”. While the District Board Members and even DeSantis himself have said that they are bringing “transparency” to the district, there has been a distinct lack of transparency over the past few days.

In the interview, Gilzean says that he has been “burning the midnight oil” as he cashed in on two paychecks, working 7-8 hours in both the District Administrator role ($400,000 per year), and the Supervisor of Elections role ($205,000 per year). Gilzean initially called his departure a “transition”, but was pressed by Angel to clarify. Gilzean affirmed that the Board would be naming a new District Administrator and that he would be cutting ties with the District.

Gilzean did not give a timeframe for his departure but in a March 4th email to BlogMickey.com, the District Office of Public Information said that the “transition should be completed in one week”.
