Imagineering Receives State Approval for Animal Kingdom Trailer Complex As Tropical Americas DinoLand USA Overhaul Moves Forward

    Published:

Walt Disney World has received approval from the state to create a trailer complex that many believe (us included) will be for a project headquarters for the DinoLand USA overhaul into a Tropical Americas-themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The permit was approved this week, and Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) has wasted no time in filing additional permits for the installation of the approved trailer complex.

The complex is located north of Expedition Everest/Kali River Rapids, and east of Conservation Station. As seen below, this is a back-of-house laydown yard that was previously used for some of the Pandora – The World of Avatar set fabrication. The work for the trailer complex will include hardscape and land prep for four WDI trailers and a contractor trailer.

The South Florida Water Management District approved the trailer complex construction for a period of 5 years, with the permit expiring on May 22, 2029. If Disney World wants to do additional construction, it will require an update or new permit. Any work at the DinoLand USA site will likely require such a permit due to a nearby backstage pond.

Once the permit above was approved, Walt Disney Imagineering filed two permits with Modular Building Systems International, LLC to “install trailers” at addresses that nearly exactly match the laydown yard address.

Walt Disney Imagineering has outlined plans to bring a Tropical Americas-themed land to Disney’s Animal Kingdom by replacing all of DinoLand USA. The overhaul would bring an Encanto-themed offering and a retheme of DINOSAUR into an Indiana Jones attraction. For more on the plans, check out our article below!
