DinoLand USA Transforms Into Tropical Americas Dig Site at Animal Kingdom

DinoLand USA has reached it’s final form: a dig site (once again). After Cast Members enjoyed one final farewell to the DINOSAUR attraction after its official closure to the public, DinoLand USA has been completely turned over to construction crews to complete the Tropical Americas transformation. We made it out to Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently to check on the progress.

We’ll start with a look at the site from the Discovery Island bridge. As we just reported, the DinoLand USA sign that used to be located at the end of the bridge has been removed. From here, we can already see that the construction walls that used to sit on either side of the walkway back to the DINOSAUR attraction have been removed. We’ll get a better view in a moment, but this is our first indication that the land has been completely turned over to construction crews as Walt Disney Imagineering waves a magic wand to transform the area into a Tropical Americas-themed land.

We can see that a proper construction wall has been installed where the former path to the DINOSAUR attraction used to be. Here’s a before/current.

Some of the construction fences are low enough that we could get a good peek at the construction from the guest walkway pictured above. Here’s a look around the construction site, now devoid of interior construction walls as crews are full steam ahead in transforming DinoLand USA into the Tropical Americas land first announced back in September 2023.
