While visiting Magic Kingdom this morning, we stopped by The Emporium gift shop to take a look at the theming refresh project that began back in January. As first revealed by our early March photos, The Emporium is receiving a refresh in the northernmost section of the popular Magic Kingdom store. Since then, other sections of the store have closed to continue a visual refresh that ditches carpet and installs tiles of various designs. The project appears to be entering the home stretch, and we have a current look around the space!
Emporium Theming Refresh Continues at Magic Kingdom
When walking from the central section of The Emporium, we can see that the changes are taking place in the “Youth & Plush” section, also known as Disney Clothiers. Everything on the other side of this archway is being refreshed up to where the shopping venue meets the indoor seating for Casey’s Corner. The biggest change is the removal of carpet and wood flooring, replaced by tile throughout the high-traffic gift shop.

“Ugly.” There’s just no better word that describes this.
They really have gotten that “abandoned dead 90’s mall” aesthetic down pat. There is a lot of nostalgia for that time period, and it seems that Disney wants to tap into that demographic.
