While visiting Magic Kingdom this morning, we took a lap on the Tomorrowland PeopleMover to get an updated look at the Cool Ship refurbishment. As you may know, Cool Ship has been under refurbishment since mid-May, with the entire structure removed by early June. Walt Disney World says that the location is under refurbishment and that it will reopen later this year. Of course, the removal of the entire kiosk and length of refurbishment certainly show how extensive the work is. We made it out to Magic Kingdom to get an updated look.
Cool Ship Refurbishment/Rebuild
As for the actual work done during the refurbishment, Walt Disney World never really gives out details, so we have to simply rely on what we can see. With the kiosk completely removed, we assume that it’s getting a refresh for when it returns later this year. In Tomorrowland, crews took the site down to the dirt, which likely gave them an opportunity to replace a lot of the infrastructure under the pavement. Now, they have installed new pipes and are starting to work on rebuilding the foundation of the venue. Here’s a look!
The outline seen on the boards suggests that the kiosk will remain the same circular shape as before.
It will be interesting to see what updates or upgrades are made to the location. We’ve seen Cool Ship try some different menu items in the past, and would love to see it become a go-to spot when it returns later this year.
Nearby, the Energy Bytes stand near the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster, scaled back its offerings after trying some ambitious things with the menu.
