Dinosaur Gertie Damaged at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently, we were observing some of the cold-weather damage and found a different type of damage – plaster damage. Dinosaurs are a dying breed at Walt Disney World, and crews will likely have to make some repairs to Gertie the Dinosaur at Disney’s Hollywood Studios following the discovery of cracks in the figure.

We’ll start our investigation from the opposite side of Echo Lake, close to the Frozen Sing-Along theater. From here, we get our first glimpse of the damage. There are actually a few cracks in the structure, but none as concerning (to the untrained eye) as the crack at the base of the rear end.

With the vegetation removed due to the late-January cold snap, we get a clear view of what appears to be a concerning crack. I’m not sure if there is enough damage here to warrant action at this point, but hopefully this is something that is on Disney’s radar.

We’ll keep an eye out to see if Disney is able to patch it up, or if they will have to drain Echo Lake in order to complete repairs.
