Walt Disney World has changed how the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away parade travels through Magic Kingdom. The adjustment took effect February 12, 2026, and marks the first operational shift since the parade debuted last summer. On nights with two showings, the second parade now runs in reverse. Here’s what you need to know.

Disney Starlight Parade Route Change at Magic Kingdom

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • What exactly changed about the Starlight parade route
  • How the new reversed direction works on two-show nights
  • Why this likely helps guests exiting after fireworks

What Changed About the Route

The route itself has not changed, simply the direction of travel. The parade still runs from Town Square, down Main Street USA, past Cinderella Castle, through Liberty Square, and into Frontierland.

What changed is the direction of travel. On nights with two showings, the second parade now reverses course, starting in Frontierland and ending back in Town Square.

How the Two-Show Nights Work

On nights with a single Disney Starlight parade, nothing changes. That lone showing still launches in Town Square and finishes in Frontierland.

When a second parade is scheduled, the direction flips. That later performance begins in Frontierland and works its way back toward Town Square. Below is a look at the route in red dashes, with the updated direction noted.

Why the Change Makes Sense

I think this is a smart adjustment. The Happily Ever After fireworks show typically runs between the two parade showtimes, which packs Main Street USA with guests from Cinderella Castle all the way to Town Square.

Starting the second parade in Frontierland allows that bottleneck some time to clear. More guests can exit Magic Kingdom after fireworks without fighting through the parade route setup along Main Street USA.

When the Change Took Effect

The reversed route debuted on February 12th, 2026. Disney is expected to keep this as standard operating procedure going forward. We will continue tracking the Disney Starlight parade and update you if the route shifts again.
