Overnight, the Walt Disney World water parks switched operational status. With Typhoon Lagoon carrying operations through the winter season, Blizzard Beach took over and is now operational through the Summer. That means that Typhoon Lagoon is now closed for a 3-month refurbishment. Here’s what to expect during the Spring season as Disney World prepares for a busy Summer.

Typhoon Lagoon Closed for Spring Refurbishment

Typhoon Lagoon had its final day of winter operations yesterday and is now closed for refurbishment. The park is expected to have a robust refurbishment, perhaps even a full slide replacement.

Typhoon Lagoon is currently scheduled to reopen on May 12th as both water parks enter Summer operations. It is expected to be a busy Summer, with the return of the free water park access for Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests from May 26 to September 8, 2026.

Blizzard Beach is now open, and will remain open through the Summer season, likely closing for refurbishment sometime in September. That said, Walt Disney World has not announced any 2026 refurbishment plans for Blizzard Beach at this time.
