Disney Expands Direct Bus Service to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon from Select Resorts This Summer

|

Walt Disney World has updated its bus transportation policies for Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, expanding direct bus service to select resort hotels ahead of the busy summer season. The changes, which are now reflected on the Walt Disney World website, add new direct routes from several resorts that previously required a transfer to reach either water park.

Here’s What Changed for Disney Water Park Bus Transportation In Summer 2026

In This Article

  • Direct bus service to Typhoon Lagoon is now available from Disney’s Port Orleans Resort hotels
  • Three additional resorts now have direct bus access to Blizzard Beach
  • Guests at other resorts still need to transfer at Disney Springs or Disney’s Animal Kingdom
  • Bus service timing windows remain the same as before the change
  • Both water parks are open simultaneously through September 8, 2026

What Changed for Typhoon Lagoon

Previously, all Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests were required to take a bus to the Disney Springs area and then transfer to a second bus bound for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. That baseline transfer requirement hasn’t gone away for most guests, but a new exception has been added.

Guests staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, Riverside and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, French Quarter can now enjoy more direct bus transportation to and from Typhoon Lagoon, bypassing the Disney Springs transfer entirely. Disney’s guidance notes that guests should check transportation signage at their resort for the most up-to-date details on pick-up locations and operating hours when they arrive.

For all other Walt Disney World Resort hotels, the Disney Springs transfer remains in place. Bus service from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon begins approximately 30 minutes prior to water park opening, and service from Typhoon Lagoon back to Disney Springs ends approximately 60 minutes after closing.

What Changed for Blizzard Beach

The Blizzard Beach changes are a bit more layered. The previous policy offered direct bus service only to guests staying at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Disney’s All-Star Resort hotels, with all other resort guests required to transfer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.

That direct service for Coronado Springs and the All-Star Resorts remains in place, and now three additional resorts have been added to the direct service list: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Guests at those properties can now travel directly to and from Blizzard Beach without stopping at Animal Kingdom first.

For guests at all remaining Walt Disney World Resort hotels not listed above, the Animal Kingdom transfer remains the route to Blizzard Beach. Bus service from Animal Kingdom to Blizzard Beach begins approximately 30 minutes prior to water park opening, and service from Blizzard Beach back to Animal Kingdom ends approximately 60 minutes after closing.

Why This Change, and Why Now

The timing of the update lines up with two notable developments at Walt Disney World this summer. First, both water parks are now open simultaneously through September 8, 2026, with Typhoon Lagoon having reopened on May 12 and Blizzard Beach operating since earlier in the year. Dual water park operations significantly increase the potential volume of guests heading to both parks on any given day.

Second, Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests checking in between May 26 and September 8, 2026 are eligible for free water park admission on their check-in day as part of the resort stay benefit. With that perk driving more guests to the water parks, especially on check-in days, expanding direct bus access makes practical sense. Guests arriving early and heading straight to a water park before their room is ready will benefit most from having one fewer transfer in their routine.
