When Typhoon Lagoon Closes
Typhoon Lagoon closes for seasonal refurbishment starting September 9, 2026. The final day to ride Crush ‘n’ Gusher or float the wave pool before the closure is September 8.
Here’s the notice from Disney:
Starting September 9, 2026, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park will temporarily close. During this time, we encourage Guests to enjoy Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park.
The closure is temporary. Walt Disney World regularly closes one water park at a time during cooler months as crowds drop. This allows Disney to perform maintenance and refurbishment for the busy summer season.
Blizzard Beach Stays Open
Both water parks are operating at the same time through the summer, a setup we covered when Disney confirmed dual-park operations for Summer 2026. The September 9 date ends that overlap and puts the rotation back to one open water park at a time. Blizzard Beach stays open as Typhoon Lagoon goes offline.
Disney has not announced a reopening date for Typhoon Lagoon. The annual cycle typically keeps the water park closed into the cooler months. Typically, Typhoon Lagoon will reopen during the winter as Blizzard Beach closes for refurbishment ahead of the summer season. Disney typically keeps at least one water park open at a time during the slower months. We’ll be sure to update you when the next water park operations swap happens. For now, the only firm date is the September 9 closure of Typhoon Lagoon.
