UPDATE: Frontierland Kiosks Rumored to Close Have Been Removed from Magic Kingdom Digital Map

We have an update on the rumor that started right here on BlogMickey.com about the removal of three kiosks in Frontierland. Back in January, we published a rumor about the removal of three Frontierland kiosks as construction of the nearby Piston Peak National Park is expected to expand. Since then, we’ve been keeping an eye on the kiosks, and we have an update on the rumor.

First, here’s a look at the relevant portion of Frontierland as seen in the digital map before the changes. As you can see, the Westward Ho, churro kiosk, and Big Al’s merchandise kiosk are all visible along the north side of the main walkway in Frontierland.

The kiosks are still present on the current version of the Magic Kingdom paper map, pictured below. Westward Ho and the churro cart are hidden under the “30” bubble, marking their locations.

In the latest update to the map, all three kiosks have been removed. This aligns with our orignal rumor that they would be removed from Frontierland. We speculated that their removal would be due to an expanding Piston Peak National Park construction site, perhaps swallowing up the Frontierland boardwalk. If the boardwalk were to be taken out of play for a few months (or longer) as construction continues on the Piston Peak National Park stream, this would require additional walking space in Frontierland – necessitating the removal of the three kiosks rumored to close.

While the removal of the kiosks is notable, it is also worth noting that Walt Disney World has not confirmed the closure of the kiosks. Disney has not responded to multiple requests for comment, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more.

We previously followed up on our rumor on the closure of the kiosks with news that permits had been filed for each of the kiosks.
