Good afternoon from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where a new pre-show has debuted for the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The new pre-show now playing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the pre-show for the Mandalorian and Grogu update coming soon. The new pre-show still features Hondo Ohnaka, as expected, but there is some updated dialogue now that removes references to the First Order and the Resistance. Here’s the latest, along with a transcript of the before/after.

Disney has confirmed that the new pre-show now playing at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the same pre-show that will play when the Mandalorian and Grogu update debuts at the attraction on May 22nd. The pre-show update was made in preparation for the overnight switch, and the new dialogue works with the current version of the attraction as well as the upcoming version of the ride.

Here’s our video of the new pre-show, followed by a before/after transcript of the dialogue change. Thankfully, Hondo’s fine furry friend Chewbacca remains at the controls of the Falcon.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Pre-Show Transcript Change

Hello my friends, I am Hondo Ohnaka, and this is Ohnaka Transport Solutions! Today, I am offering the opportunity of a lifetime! I need flight crews to transport this valuable merchandise across the galaxy: pilots to navigate, engineers to operate the ship, and gunners to defend the shipments, and that is where you come in.

Oh ho, the Millennium Falcon. Well known for some very fast and very profitable expeditions.

Chewbacca, my fine furry friend. Yes yes, as we agreed: you let us use the ship, we’ll get you the supplies you need, it’s a win win, you help the resistance and I get all the profits.

<Chewbacca protests>

Ha ha, the First Order will never know we were there.

<Chewbacca growls>

Ok, time to go so uh, bye bye. We better go before he changes his mind, move along my friends. Listen carefully and remember, the better you work together the more you earn.

And if and when you are successful, the rewards will be astronomical for me… and you, of course for you…

What luck, the Millennium Falcon! The fastest ship in the galaxy: speed means profit.

<Chewbacca comes on screen>

Chewbacca, my fine furry friend! Yes, yes, as we discussed. You can leave the ship here. The spaceport has plenty of room. Especially for the Falcon.

<Chewbacca protests>

What? No, it is perfectly safe.

<Chewbacca growls>

Ok, time to go, so uh, bye bye!

I found you the perfect ship. Move along, my friends. Listen carefully, and remember: the better you work together, the more you earn! Your lives, and my profit, depend on it! Now go! Go, go go.

And if and when you are successful, the rewards will be astronomical for me… and you, of course for you…
Smugglers Run pre-show (Updated May 2026)
Life-sized Mandalorian and Grogu figure at new pre-show debut in Star Wars area.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting its most significant overhaul since opening day, and it arrives on May 22, 2026 at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. The update introduces The Mandalorian and Grogu into the attraction’s storyline, brings an all-new mission, adds player-controlled destinations, and is powered by new technology. Here’s everything we know so far.

The New Storyline

Disney has confirmed that the attraction’s new story is independent from the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu theatrical film, even though both debut on the same day.

As Jon Favreau explained when the update was announced at SXSW: “This isn’t going to retell what happens in the movie – it’s more like participating in something that’s happening just off-camera from what you see in the film.”

In the updated adventure, Hondo Ohnaka has gotten wind of a deal going down on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and a band of pirates. With a generous bounty on the line, Hondo enlists your crew’s help to track them down. Guests will borrow the Millennium Falcon and team up with Mando and Grogu to capture the targets and any cargo they’re transporting.

A first look at the mission briefing, shared by Disney Parks on May 4, 2026, showed Din Djarin delivering the mission details from aboard the Razor Crest.

Player-Controlled Destinations

One of the biggest gameplay changes is that, for the first time ever, the crew will be in control of their own destination. The four confirmed locations guests can travel to are:

  • Tatooine
  • Bespin (Cloud City)
  • Endor (the wreckage of the second Death Star)
  • Coruscant

Coruscant was the fourth and final location announced, revealed at the Disney Experiences panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan in April 2025.

Engineer Role Upgrade

The Engineer position is receiving a meaningful gameplay upgrade. Engineers will now be able to interact with and care for Grogu during the mission, making it a far more active role than it has been since the attraction opened in 2019.

New Technology: Unreal Engine 5

The update is built on a significantly upgraded technical foundation. Disney partnered with Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) and Epic Games to integrate Unreal Engine 5 into the attraction, the same toolset ILM uses to create virtual sets for The Mandalorian series on Disney+. This technology enables real-time rendering and allows the attraction’s environments to respond dynamically to how guests fly the ship.

As Star Wars creative executive Dave Filoni noted at D23 2024, “The intersection of storytelling and innovation has always been central to Lucasfilm and we’re excited to see where this collaboration will take us next.”

Debut Date

The Mandalorian and Grogu update to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run debuts May 22, 2026 at both Walt Disney World Resort (Disney’s Hollywood Studios) and Disneyland Resort. The date coincides with The Mandalorian and Grogu arriving in theaters the same day, though Disney has confirmed the attraction tells a different story than the film.
