Seven Seas Drive to Dead-End at Polynesian Starting July 13

Disney has emailed Guests with new driving directions for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, splitting the arrival route by which section of the resort they’re staying. The change is tied to a permanent road closure on July 13th, when the intersection of Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way shut down for good. Island Tower Guests are directed to Floridian Way. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort main campus Guests are routed onto North World Drive instead. All of it traces back to the resort’s new main entrance project.

New Polynesian Village Resort Driving Directions Ahead of the July 13th Road Closure

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • Disney’s new arrival directions split by whether you’re staying at Island Tower or the main resort.
  • The Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way intersection permanently closes July 13th.
  • How the closure fits the larger World Drive roadway project.

If you’re visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, your arrival route will soon depend on which area of the resort you’re visiting. In an email to Guests, Disney lays out separate directions for the DVC Island Tower versus the main campus. The letter tells Guests to expect a new traffic pattern from ongoing roadway improvements starting July 13th.

Island Tower Guests are directed to use Floridian Way to reach Island Tower for check-in. Disney tells those Guests to “please do not travel to the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.” Guests of the main campus get a different route. They’re told to follow Polynesian Resort directional signage on North World Drive to reach the entrance. We’ve created a rough graphic above to illustrate the routes.

Seven Seas Drive Intersection to Permanently Close

Seven Seas Drive currently serves the Polynesian, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and the Magic Kingdom resort area. Starting July 13th, it will dead-end at the Polynesian’s main Guest entrance rather than connecting through to Floridian Way. Guests wishing to visit Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort will need to use Floridian Way.

The roadway work driving all of this is a CFTOD-led effort, the same World Drive project that was recently pushed back 15 months. Its eventual plan calls for a new roundabout along Floridian Way. Seven Seas Drive would then be rerouted through the current Magic Kingdom Cast Member parking lot to connect to it. That reroute is what necessitated relocating the Polynesian’s main entrance in the first place.
