Disney Pushes Polynesian Refurbishment Timeline to Early 2027

Construction at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will continue through early 2027, Disney said in an updated refurbishment notice. The new timeline extends work that Disney had previously said would wrap up by the end of 2026. Disney said the project includes reconfiguring the resort’s front entrance roadway.

  • Disney’s updated construction timeline for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.
  • How the new notice differs from the version Disney shared in 2025.
  • What the work means for guests staying at the resort this winter.

The resort on Seven Seas Lagoon has been reworking its arrival experience for several years. Disney opened a new main entrance in December 2025 and a new bus loop in July. Crews continue working around the front of the property, and Disney now expects that work to extend into the new year.

The notice said, “Through early 2027, some areas of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows are being refurbished. This work includes the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway.” It also said “some views of the theme parks and other surrounding areas may be impacted,” and that “most Resort dining, pools and amenities will remain available.”

Guests arriving this winter can expect construction near the front entrance, while most restaurants and pools remain open.

What Changed in Disney’s Notice

Disney’s previous notice, issued when the company officially announced the new Polynesian entrance in June 2025, covered work from May 2025 through 2026. That version described the project as “the reconfiguration of the front entrance roadway and bus area.” The updated notice no longer mentions the bus area. That piece is complete, as the resort’s new bus loop opened on July 13th with a covered shelter near the Great Ceremonial House, the resort’s main building.

Disney also changed its wording on amenities. The 2025 notice said all resort dining, pools, and amenities would remain available, while the new version says most. Disney did not specify which offerings fall outside “most.”

Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace closed in April during exterior work at the Great Ceremonial House, and Disney had most recently targeted late October for its reopening. The new notice also omits a 9:00am start time for noisy work that appeared in an earlier Disney construction notice.

Front Entrance Roadway Work Continues

Guests began using the new main entrance at Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way in December 2025. It provides a direct approach to the Great Ceremonial House. At that time, Disney anticipated about another year of roadway work around the nearby intersection. The early 2027 timeline is slightly later than that estimate.

Disney permanently closed the Seven Seas Drive intersection at Floridian Way on July 13th. Driving directions to the resort now differ for guests staying at Island Tower and those staying at the main resort. The notice did not say which portions of the roadway work remain.
