New Recorded Narration Debuts on Walt Disney World Monorails

Walt Disney World has updated the recorded narration on all three of its monorail lines: Magic Kingdom Express, Magic Kingdom Resorts, and EPCOT. Notably, we have confirmed that a voice actor recorded the new narration, not artificial intelligence, as has been speculated. Disney made the change to better reflect the resort’s current lineup of offerings, swapping out references that had grown outdated over the years.

Walt Disney World Refreshes Monorail Narration

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • Disney has recorded new narration for the Express, Resort, and EPCOT monorail lines
  • The narration was recorded by a voice actor, not generated with AI
  • The update is meant to reflect the resort’s current offerings

What Has Changed in the New Narration

The monorail spiel has long welcomed guests aboard with rundowns of resort amenities and park offerings as the train circles the Seven Seas Lagoon or heads toward EPCOT. Some of those references had fallen out of date as Disney closed, renamed, or replaced experiences across the resorts and parks. The refreshed script reflects current offerings across all three lines. Riders get a more accurate picture of what’s actually available at each stop.

Disney recorded the new narration with a voice actor, not artificial intelligence. That detail is worth underlining, given how quickly AI voice generation was brought up by fans after the change.

The biggest change comes for the EPCOT portion of the monorail loop. Here, Disney has removed references to canceled projects such as the PLAY Pavilion. Disney has also added a segment featuring the voice of Walt Disney saying “The heart of everything we’ll be doing in Disney World will be our experimental prototype city of tomorrow. We call it EPCOT. Spelled E-P-C-O-T. Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.”

Disney has also created more generic references to Soarin’ and The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

Other changes include the addition of “no vaping”, while retaining the “ladies and gentlemen” greeting. Also unchanged is the iconic “Please Stand Clear of the Doors” message, both in English and in Spanish.

Rolling Out Resort-Wide

The updated narration covers the Express Monorail between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom. It also covers the Resort Monorail, which stops at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. The EPCOT Monorail rounds out the system and updates, connecting the Transportation and Ticket Center to the park. Riders on any of the three lines should now hear the refreshed spiel in place of the previous version.
