Construction on the outdoor Brown Derby Lounge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios appears to be nearly complete. The project got underway in June with the lounge relocating nearby. On a visit to the park this morning, we found the overhang now fully covered by a red awning, plus new ceiling fans and lantern fixtures. The patio remains walled off, but the pace of work suggests a reopening may not be far away.

New Awning, Fans, and Lighting Installed
Along the side of The Hollywood Brown Derby, the overhang is now fully enclosed in a red awning, with fabric matching the canopy out front and the other awnings elsewhere on the building. Ceiling fans hang beneath the structure at regular intervals, and several were spinning during our visit this morning. Ornate wrought iron lantern fixtures line the underside of the overhang as well, their scrollwork matching the building’s existing exterior lighting. Matching fixtures also hang directly from the support columns for the new overhang.
Patio Still Closed Off Behind Planters
Despite the progress overhead, the patio itself remains inaccessible to guests. Rolling planters topped with hedges continue to wall off the space along the walkway.
The Hollywood Brown Derby’s main dining room has continued operating normally throughout the project. Its walk-up lounge also remains in its temporary home in front of the former Starring Rolls space. Disney has not announced an opening date for the renovated patio. Between the finished overhang, the installed fans, and the completed lighting, though, a reopening may not be far off. We previously reported that the goal was to reopen the patio in early September.
