Construction on the outdoor Brown Derby Lounge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has wrapped up. The patio is now back open to guests, featuring a more weather-resistant setup. Crews spent the months since June adding a new overhang, ceiling fans, and lantern fixtures along the side of The Hollywood Brown Derby. On a recent visit, we found the planters and barriers gone, with tables set and guests dining under the finished structure. Here’s the latest.
Brown Derby Lounge Patio Reopens with New Overhang at Hollywood Studios

A Fully Covered Patio
The new overhang features a red awning that matches the entrance canopy out front. Wrought-iron-looking lantern fixtures line the underside of the overhang, their scrollwork echoing fixtures found elsewhere on the building. The result is a fully shaded, weather-resistant patio in place of the previous exposed setup.
Round tables dressed in white tablecloths fill the space. Black metal chairs line the outer edge, while red leather chairs with wrought iron frames sit closer to the center of the space.
Guests Are Back on the Patio
Guests have been welcomed back with the recent reopening of the space. Reopened seating now sits right off the nearby walkway, making it a wonderful spot for people-watching. As the weather turns cooler, we actually prefer this space over dining inside.
Speaking of dining inside, The Hollywood Brown Derby’s main dining room stayed open throughout construction.
Oh, and if you love dining outside but hate the idea of being protected from the elements, there is a single table for guests who prefer rolling the dice a bit.
Story So Far
- June 29th: Construction began on the outdoor Brown Derby Lounge, with the walk-up bar relocating to the former Starring Rolls space and early word of a new overhang and other upgrades.
- July 17th: New support columns went in along the patio, with concrete footings suggesting a covered structure was on the way.
- September 1st: The overhang appeared to be nearly complete, with the new awning, fans, and lantern fixtures installed, but the patio was still walled off.
