The date matches the pre-release of Disney Lorcana: Hyperia City, the newest set in the trading card game, which reaches stores everywhere on October 23rd. Disney says a standby queue will not be available, so the app is the only way to shop.

World of Disney is the stop for this Disney Lorcana event, and the first step happens on a phone in the My Disney Experience app. Disney Springs has used a virtual queue for busy debuts before, including the Six Ravens soft opening this summer. For Lorcana fans, the day comes down to one 6:00am request and a boarding group call.
How the Virtual Queue Works
Guests can request to join the virtual queue once, at 6:00am on October 16th. Disney says guests must be within approximately 45 miles of Disney Springs to join at that time. Once Disney calls a boarding group, guests have 60 minutes to return to World of Disney. Disney says it may not accommodate late arrivals.
Several rules apply to every guest who joins:
- Each guest may request to join the virtual queue no more than once, using their own boarding pass
- Guests cannot join as part of a party, and boarding passes cannot be linked or shared
- Purchases may be made by registered guests only
- Purchases are limited to 2 units of the featured item per guest, while supplies last
Disney limits capacity for the event. Joining the virtual queue does not guarantee the ability to purchase the featured Disney Lorcana merchandise, and Disney’s notice does not list the featured items. The 6:00am request is the only opportunity to purchase. Updating and signing in to the My Disney Experience app ahead of time is a simple way to be ready.
Disney Lorcana: Hyperia City Release and Pre-Release Details
Disney says Hyperia City arrives for pre-release on October 16th in game stores and select Disney Parks and stores, with the general release on October 23rd. Online retailers have preorders open now.
Disney describes Hyperia City as a new city “where metro meets the fantastical.” The city has musical street performances, shops, and nightlife. Neighborhoods include City Center, Wandering Straits, Old Towne Hyperia, the Marigold District, and M.A.G.I.C., the Multidisciplinary Academy for Genius, Imagination, and Creativity. Disney says the city honors Hyperion Studio, the home of Walt Disney Studios from 1926 to 1940 and the birthplace of Mickey Mouse.
Coco from Disney and Pixar joins the game for the first time, with glimmers performing in the Marigold District. Big Hero 6 glimmers such as Honey Lemon are researching ink drop technology at M.A.G.I.C. Ink drops are the set’s new mechanic, a counter that gives players one-time-use ink to play cards from their hand or empower other cards. Ravensburger Lead Game Designer Lukas Litzsinger describes the effect. “Ink drops can completely change the tempo of a game,” he says.
The Iconic cards are the rarest in the set, led by Mickey Mouse – Best in Town and Cinderella – Unintentional Icon. That Mickey card debuted at D23. Disney says it is a tribute to the first word the character ever spoke: hot dog. Ravensburger Art Director Liz Richards adds, “There is something for everyone to enjoy in Hyperia City.”
