REVIEW: Backlot Express Serves Up the Worst Holiday Treat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

|

|

Well, we’ve been having a decent run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios today with holiday treats, but we’ve hit quite the speed bump at Backlot Express. While there are two treats at the location, it’s the bad taste in our mouth left by the Holiday Blondie that stood out. Let’s take a look at what we found.

Holiday Blondie – $5.99

Location: Backlot Express only

In front of us, we have what looks suspiciously like the Num Num Cookie found at the Neighborhood Bakery. Unfortunately, this blondie proved to be the worst holiday treat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Made with orange peel, dried cranberry, slivered almonds, and topped with a white-chocolate ganache. What we presented to us was unbelievably dry and bland. Yes, there was the odd cranberry or almond, but there isn’t a single part of this treat that is any way redeeming or worth $6.

Goofy’s Hot Chocolate, Not Hot Chocolate Verrine – $4.99

Location: Backlot Express, Rosie’s All-American Cafe

Here we find a chocolate cake base, layered with chocolate and vanilla cream, topped with cinnamon marshmallow and a Goofy chocolate piece. While the Holiday Blondie proved to be the worst dessert we had, this verrine could be one of the best. It’s chocolate through and through, but with a hint of cinnamon to give it a subtle hot chocolate taste. Our advice is to grab this at Rosie’s All-American Cafe while enjoying an alcoholic hot cocoa flight.
