Disney applies for patents to use drones in their entertainment

A series of patent applications have appeared that may tip off what Imagineering is thinking of when it comes to the next level of entertainment in Disney parks. The patents (which can be found here, here, and here), describe a system of projection entertainment using multiple drones, or UAVs. The patents describe two possible uses for the drones. First, the drones could be used as a series of screens to build an element similar to what is seen in Fantasmic and World of Color. The drones could position themselves much like the water in Fantasmic to create a temporary viewing experience by synchronizing their displays. If you thought that was cool, the second described use is to use the drones to manipulate a large marionette (as seen in the diagram below)!
