Land Clearing Underway Ahead of Innoventions Demolition at Epcot

Disney is wasting no time in getting the demolition underway necessary for their new vision of Epcot. We learned more about their vision for a reinvigorated version of Epcot at the D23 Expo in Aug, including a new piece of concept art that confirms that Innoventions West will be completely demolished. As a matter of fact, our photos today come from roughly the same spot as where the monorail is in the art below, to the right of Spaceship Earth.

With a lot of locations around Future World set to close in the next few days (full list here), Disney has begun to clear some of the land between Innoventions West and The Seas pavilion. This land clearing is necessary to get larger construction vehicles into the space to begin tearing apart the Innoventions West building. We made it out to Epcot today to give you an up-to-date look at the work taking place. Our first few photos will be from ground-level, and then we’ll take to the monorail for an elevated look.

As you can see, construction walls line the walkway towards Coral Reef restaurant.

This area will eventually be home to the Journey of Water Inspired by Moana attraction, according to concept art.

As it stands today, Innoventions West is in it’s dying days.

Now, for an elevated look at the work from the monorail. As you can see quite a bit of land has been cleared in anticipation of the demolition.

    1. Always sad to see a huge change but I’ve learned that I always love what replaces it. Can’t stay static 🙂
