Make Way, Make Way: Demolition Continues on Former Innoventions Building for Moana Experience at EPCOT

|

|

While visiting EPCOT today, not only did we take a look at the work taking place on the east side of the former Future World plaza, but we also checked in on the west side of the plaza where the demolition of Innoventions West continues to make progress.

As a reminder, the Journey of Water attraction that will take over this space is a Moana-inspired experience that will let guests interact with magical, living water in a beautiful and inspiring setting. The water will have a life of its own – just like Moana’s friend, the ocean – and guests will learn about the importance of the natural water cycle. Bob Chapek described the experience as an “exploration trail”.

Here’s a rough overview of the exploration trail, which will be contained within the monorail track seen in the concept art below.

Back to the latest work today. As you can see in the photo below, the former Art of Disney location has now been completely gutted down to the skeleton of the structure. When we last checked up on it, there was still some infrastructure in place.

Here’s a look back at what the space used to look like.

Nearby, the rest of Innoventions West has been gutted and is awaiting a proper wrecking ball to level the structure.
