New Walkway Phase Opens as Part of Arrival Experience Construction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; Ride Share Modifications

As part of the ongoing work at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new walkway has opened that makes things easier for guests arriving by Ride Share, Handicap parking, Peacock Lot, Butterfly Lot, and preferred parking. If you haven’t seen the permit that outlines the full arrival experience overhaul, check out our post.

Oddly enough, the reopened walkway isn’t really “brand new” in the sense that it’s never existed, but rather reconfigured for the new arrival experience. Essentially, the new walkway once again allows guests to use the northernmost sidewalk from the parking lot directly to the park entrance. For the past few months, guests would have to walk around the work taking place on the pathway, extending their walk by a couple hundred feet. Here’s a look around the area. The first photo is from the tram drop off walkway as it connects to the new walkway.

Before making it to the new walkway, we’ll show the current Ride Share drop off area. In reality, if you haven’t used Ride Share in the past few months, this will likely look very familiar as it was the “old” ride share drop off before configurations earlier this summer.

Now we’ll walk down the new walkway as we make our way towards bag check.

Here’s a reverse look at the new walkway as well as the directional signage.
