Disneyland Receives State Approval to Reopen Hotels; Theme Parks Still in Limbo

Disneyland has recently updated their website, suggesting that they have received state approval to reopen their hotels.

In their initial announcement, Disney announced that Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel plan to reopen on July 23, pending state approval. As a reminder, the Disneyland Hotel will remain closed at this time.

Today, Disneyland updated their website, removing wording that the hotels required state approval. Note that the Downtown Disney District didn’t say pending in the initial announcement, suggesting that it was already approved. The theme parks still haven’t received state approval, and a major Cast Member union has voiced opposition to the July 17th date.

Here’s a look at the latest website update, moving the hotels out of the “pending” state.

While the California economy isn’t nearly as impacted by the closure of Disneyland as the Florida economy has been by the closure of Walt Disney World, it’s expected that Governor Newsom will give Disney the green light to reopen the theme parks at some point.
