Socially-Distanced Character Cavalcades and Processionals Coming to All Four Disney World Theme Parks

While we’ve known for some time now that character meet and greets will not be happening when the theme parks first reopen, Disney has given us a little more information as to what you’ll be able to expect in all four Walt Disney World theme parks.

    Magic Kingdom

There will be no Happily Ever After or Festival of Fantasy when Magic Kingdom reopens on July 11th, but there will be “special cavalcades” that will run along the parade route at the park.

Here’s a list of the available entertainment offerings:

    • Main Street Philharmonic
    • Character Cavalcades throughout the day, with Guest-favorite Disney friends appearing along the parade route—which will include:
      • The Royal Princess Processional
      • Mickey & Friends Cavalcade
      • Fantasyland Friends Cavalcade
      • A Goofy Cavalcade
      • Tinker Bell & the Lost Treasure
    • “The Royal Princess Processional” –Several times daily, favorite Disney princesses travel through the streets of Magic Kingdom. Princess Merida leads the way on her steed Angus, followed closely by a gazebo float and crystal castle carrying Cinderella, Tiana, Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Rapunzel and others.
    • “Mickey and Friends Cavalcade” – Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their pals pop up throughout the day, inviting everyone to “Get Their Ears On” as they wave to guests along the park’s parade route.
    • Cinderella’s Evil Stepsisters – From time to time, guests in Fantasyland may spot the dastardly Anastasia and Drizella and can interact with them from afar while they’re perched on a balcony of Cinderella Castle.

Disney obviously is trying to avoid crowding, so it’s possible that these experiences might just pop up throughout the day. A set time for a cavalcade would be counterproductive to their goals and seemingly function like a parade in terms of crowds waiting. So make sure you keep an eye out because you never know what you might see!

    Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Also opening on July 11th with Magic Kingdom is Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Disney has already cancelled all showings of Rivers of Light, the only nighttime show at the park.

While Disney hasn’t released any info about some of the stage shows that take place in the park, they have told guests to look to the waterways for characters floating along! This actually seems like a wonderful way to social distance and with a waterway running all the way around Discovery Island and viewable from many different angles, this is sure to be an interesting offering.

Here’s a look at the available entertainment offerings:

Character Cruises throughout the day, with Guest-favorite Disney friends appearing in boats around Discovery River—including the following:

    • Discovery River Character Cruise
    • Discovery Island Drummers
    • Donald’s Dino Boat Bash!
    • Mickey & Friends Flotilla
    • “Donald’s Dino Boat Bash!”– Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Launchpad McQuack wave to guests from their party boat as “Donald’s Dino Bash!” moves from DinoLand U.S.A. to Discovery River.
    • “Discovery River Character Cruise” – Throughout the day, guests can see Timon and Rafiki or Pocahontas with Meeko, who will set sail on the parks’ waterways.
    • Discovery Island Drummers – These high-energy percussionists cruise along Discovery River, entertaining guests on the shore with an energetic beat.

    EPCOT

Over at EPCOT, EPCOT Forever will not be shown nightly, but Disney has said that they will be bringing some life to World Showcase in the form of processions along the World Showcase promenade. If this means that we can see vehicles once again parading around EPCOT, then this park might be closer to its past than ever before!

Here’s a look at the available entertainment offerings:

    • America Gardens Theatre Presents… featuring popular EPCOT performers such as:
      • JAMMitors
      • Mariachi Cobre
    • Character Cavalcades throughout the day, featuring favorite Disney friends traveling around World Showcase promenade—including:
      • Frozen Promenade
      • Mickey & Friends World Tour
      • Princess Promenade
    • “Mickey and Friends World Tour” – As guests travel around World Showcase, they may come upon Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto and Goofy all out sightseeing and waving to their friends.
    • “Frozen Promenade” – Queen Anna and Elsa venture into the unknown around World Showcase, journeying from country to country and waving hello to guests along the way.

    Disney’s Hollywood Studios

If we have to go back decades to remember a parade at EPCOT, we only have to go back a few “short” years to remember cars driving down Hollywood Blvd at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

According to Disney, we’ll see a return of the motorcade down Hollywood Blvd when the parks reopen. Of course, more details as to what characters we might see in all of the special occasions listed above is yet to be disclosed, but Disney will be looking to try and inject as much socially-distanced magic as possible in the opening months.

Here’s a look at the available entertainment offerings:

Character Cavalcades throughout the day, with favorite Disney friends appearing along Hollywood Boulevard—including:

    • Disney Junior Stars Motorcade
    • Mickey & Friends Motorcade
    • Pixar Motorcade
    • Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – While living their own adventures in a galaxy far, far away, guests are likely to come across some familiar faces as they explore Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu:
      • Heroes of the Resistance, including Rey, Chewbacca and Vi Moradi, may be spotted on platforms above the garage in Black Spire Station or surveying activity around the spaceport where the Millennium Falcon has landed.
      • A contingent of First Order Stormtroopers join Kylo Ren in patrolling the landing platform at Docking Bay 9 beneath their TIE Echelon assault vehicle.
    • “Pixar Pals Motorcade” – Some of the biggest stars from Pixar Animation Studios’ films arrive on Hollywood Boulevard, from The Incredibles to Toy Story pals and more. They’ll wave to their fans as they head down the avenue accompanied by a celebratory musical score.
    • “Disney Junior Stars Motorcade” – Throughout the day, Disney Junior stars including Fancy Nancy, Doc McStuffins and Vampirina will cruise down Hollywood Boulevard waving to fans from colorful custom convertibles.
