Tropical Storm Isaias Forms, Impact on Disney World Indeterminable at This Time

Last night, Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine formed into Tropical Storm Isaias. As we continue to track the storm and the potential impact on the Walt Disney World area, the National Hurricane Center’s (NHC) latest messaging surrounding Isaias has been released.

In the key messaging, NHC notes that the immediate impact of the storm on the Caribbean could bring potentially life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides across many of the islands. Of course, the terrain and conditions in Central Florida are very different compared to the islands of the Caribbean, so while we’re still planning on more rain and wind this weekend than normal, the NHC guidance says that it is too soon to determine the location or magnitude of the impact that the storm could have on Florida and, by extension, the Walt Disney World Resort.

In the past 18 hours, we’ve seen the cone of uncertainty swing from the Gulf of Mexico west of Florida, now to the east coast of Florida. Wind speed models still suggest that the Central Florida area could see Tropical-Storm-Force-winds this weekend, with Sunday likely bearing the brunt of the storm.

As of publish time, Disney has not issued any weather related advisories.

We’ll continue to monitor Tropical Storm Isaias as it continues to approach Florida over the coming days.
