Electrical Construction Coming to All Four Magic Kingdom-Area Monorail Stations

According to permits filed with the state, all four Magic Kingdom-area monorail stations will be receiving some electrical work soon. Four permits were filed for the monorail stations at the Ticket and Transportation Center, Polynesian Village Resort, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary. The work is listed as “monorail contactor replacement”, which is electrical work.

Disney has announced a monorail platform upgrade at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as part of an entire resort overhaul that will start with a refresh of the arrival experience. It’s unknown if the monorail work listed in the permits is related to the larger overhaul at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, or simply part of the ongoing work to refresh the Disney World monorail system.

At one point, Disney was rumored to replace the “duct tape monorail“, but they have seemingly decided to refresh the current line of monorails instead.
