With news that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway would be delayed until 2023 at Disneyland, Disney also shared that the construction project has gone vertical on a newly cleared piece of land behind Toontown.

To recap, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is being built on a piece of land behind the Toontown section of Disneyland that was previously utilized by Entertainment as a warehouse. You can see the warehouse in this old Google Maps imagery and the land clearing courtesy of a November 2019 helicopter flight by friend of the site @Bioreconstruct.

Yesterday, Walt Disney Imagineering shared a look at a single piece of steel erected on the construction site, but an updated look from thecalibae on Instagram showcases even more progress since the official social media post.

In the following photos, we can see the corner of the building beginning to take shape as crews get back to work after a halt in construction due to COVID-19.From this angle outside of Disneyland, we can see Toontown to the left and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the distance.

Here’s a closer look at the progress.

While it’s exciting to see some progress, we’re still years away from the debut of the attraction. While Disney has not released an official opening date beyond “2023”, we’re anticipating an opening in the first quarter.
