Continuing our update on the Grand Floridian walkway, we have a look at the western Magic Kingdom boat dock construction that will also serve as the Grand Floridian walkway entrance to Magic Kingdom. As we noted in our “One step forward, two steps back” update for the walkway, guests have to wait for the completion of the Magic Kingdom boat dock construction before the walkway will open. This is due to the removal of the temporary entrance that might have been utilized to open the Grand Floridian walkway sooner.
Here’s a look at the latest work, which has seen in installation of the tarp roof over the bag check structure, and the arrival of some palm trees to beautify the area.
We’ll start with a look at the entrance from the Magic Kingdom side of bag check. The entrance is seen to the left (or east) of the Resort Monorail walkway.
Making our way up the monorail ramp, we can see the boat launch structure where guests will wait for their boat to arrive. As a reminder, this is just for resort launches, and not for mass guest use from the Transportation and Ticket Center.
Jumping on the monorail, we can get an elevated look at the work.
Disney has not announced an opening date for the new boat launch or Grand Floridian walkway.
