Grand Floridian Main Entrance Reopening Soon

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort will open a new entrance on October 19th. The change follows a temporary entrance that opened in September to route traffic around work on the resort’s main entrance. October 19th very likely marks the reopening of that main entrance. Here’s the latest.

  • The date follows the temporary entrance that opened in September
  • The resort’s permit shows what the permanent entrance includes

Guests have used a temporary entrance at the Grand Floridian since September while crews work on the main entrance. That work is part of a larger roadway project connecting the resort to the new roundabouts along Floridian Way. Reopening the main entrance would put arrivals back at the gate guests already know, now tied into the new road layout.

The road changes began taking shape for guests on August 10th, when the first two roundabouts opened along Floridian Way. That shift left temporary connector driveways in place at the Grand Floridian, the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and the Grand Floridian wedding pavilion.

What the Permit Plans Show

Plans approved in November 2025 outline what the finished entrance should look like. It extends the main entrance roadway roughly 200 feet to connect to the southern roundabout, and the existing guardhouse stays in place. Disney filed those plans in September 2025 as part of the World Drive North Phase III project.

The existing Floridian Way will become a one-lane, one-way exit route from the Cast Member parking area. Plans also call for a new wedding pavilion entrance south of the current one. Once the work is complete, the changes should improve traffic flow significantly around this part of the resort.

More Grand Floridian Updates Ahead

Work around the resort continues well past October 19th. Documents from the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District put the World Drive North Phase III completion date at December 21st, 2027. Disney says renovations at select areas of the resort, including the covered entrance, will continue through early 2027.
