Disney’s Animal Kingdom Decked Out for the Holidays

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been decked out for the Christmas season by the Holiday Services department and we’re happy to see that they didn’t skimp on the decorations this year. The focus of this post will be on the Discovery Island area of the park as we’ll visit other corners of the park in subsequent posts. We’ve already taken a look at Pandora – The World of Avatar where the Santa AMP Suit has made a festive return!

We’ll start at the park entrance where the Christmas Tree is more prominently featured thanks to the relocated bag check area. The tree is in the same location as years past, but the whole area is much more open after the construction this summer.

A festive photo op can be found just outside the park entrance.

Once inside the park, Discovery Island is decorated with the wonderful animal lanterns that debuted last year. They can be found along the gutters of every building in the Discovery Island plaza in front of the Tree of Life. Here’s a detailed look at the decor.

These lanterns paired perfectly with the Merry Menagerie puppets that debuted last year, but won’t be making a return this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. Here’s a look back.
