In this morning’s IAAPA virtual conference, Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro previewed some of Disney’s construction projects. In the short video, we received a first look at the interior roller coaster track for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT!
Here’s a wider photo that we stitched together from the video to provide a better overview of the room.
Taking a closer look, we can see what appears to be both the entrance to, and exit from, the massive show building where most of the action will take place. The following is speculation based on observation:
In the top of the photo below, we can see the curving launch that appears to work from low to high to low, with the direction of the track moving left to right, towards the brake run. This is very likely the backwards, upwards launch that might be similar to what guests experience in Expedition Everest. In the bottom portion of the photo we can see what appears to be theming for the Universal Neural Teleportation Network portal that will likely bring us back to EPCOT after our mission in space.
Here’s a look at the backwards, climbing launch from earlier construction photos.
And here’s a look at concept art that appears to show the Universal Neural Teleportation Network portal.
Disney also released some video of the ride vehicle testing. Note that this is at a testing track and not the same track that is installed at EPCOT.
Disney also shared a closer look at the ride vehicle for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
