Disney World Relaxes Social Distancing Policies for Roller Coasters With “High Backs”

Disney has made some recent changes to their policies regarding social distancing on the roller coaster attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While visiting the park today, we noticed that both Slinky Dog Dash and Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster were loading every row.

This is a departure from previous policy that required space between traveling parties. This space was accomplished by not loading every row.

Disney is now loading all rows on the two roller coasters because the ride vechile design features a “high back” according to a Disney representative. This high back design presumably acts as a barrier between rows.

Other portions of the queue and load experience remain socially distanced or a plexiglass barrier is in place where social distancing isn’t possible.

This move comes at a time when Disney is testing the addition of plexiglass barriers inside the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run cabin.

Disney is also loading every row of Expedition Everest in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
