After checking out the new Mobile Checkout feature at MouseGear, we noticed some new plywood being added to the solar panel mounts of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind building at EPCOT. Before we jump into the construction photos, here’s a look at the concept art released for the project.
The two pieces of concept art were not released at the same time, and the second photo represents the most recent concept for the exterior. In the second piece of concept art, we can see some cuts to the project already, notably the lighting on the exterior of the structure. The entrance has also been modified to a more simplistic version.
Also of interest is less definition in the solar panels on the roof. In the first piece of concept art it was clear that there were solar panels running across the roof like in the old Universe of Energy pavilion seen below. In the second piece of concept art, the panels have lost enough definition to throw some doubt at to the presence of solar panels in the final product.
Here’s a look at the construction site today, and the application of plywood on the first row of what we assumed would be solar panel mounts. If these end up being solar panel mounts, we’re not sure what role the plywood has in the overall construction.
