Tomorrowland PeopleMover Testing Underway at Magic Kingdom

After months of what seemed like inaction, the Tomorrowland PeopleMover is a flurry of activity today (at least comparatively). As you may know, the Tomorrowland PeopleMover has been closed since March, never reopening with the rest of Magic Kingdom back in July.

According to our reporting at the time, and confirmed once again via discussions with Cast Members today, the attraction simply wouldn’t start back up after months of downtime. The culprit was reportedly a very old computer system and some faulty Linear Induction Motors. Now, we can see a push test taking place where a Cast Member walks a single ride vehicle from motor to motor, seemingly checking the functionality of either the existing motor or newly installed motors, it’s tough to know for sure from the ground. We spotted work taking place this afternoon and we grabbed some photos and video!

Here’s a look at some of the work taking place in the load area. It looks like crews are focused on the Linear Induction Motors.

The latest info we have from Disney is that the refurbishment will be completed in January 2021.
