A couple of days ago, Gideon’s Bakehouse suddenly closed after an extremely successful “soft opening” at Disney Springs. The location was flooded with guests (maybe quite a few locals as well) as they offered nearly 1/2lb cookies at a wonderfully themed locale.
After almost two weeks into their soft opening, Gideon’s suddenly closed their doors, leading many to question the reasoning behind the closure.
Today, we received a response from Gideon’s Bakehouse as to the nature of the closure. Gideon’s told BlogMickey.com that work is being done in the space this week and that they should be back and ready for a Grand Opening soon. They also updated their announcement on Instagram to include the following info:
We are still in a soft opening mode. We’ve learned a great deal over our holiday test run and are so grateful to everyone for making it such an overwhelming success! Our opening was beyond our expectations, so we are putting on the brakes to deal with behind-the-scenes logistics ahead of the grand opening.
It’s possible that Gideon’s Bakehouse is making some adjustments to what employees told us was quite a small kitchen space. BlogMickey.com was not told what the exact nature of the work to be done this week was, but the guest space appeared to be finished when we visited.
We’re looking forward to the return of Disney Springs’ hottest cookie spot after they put the finishing touches on what will surely be a must-visit location for many Walt Disney World guests.
