CDC Clears Vaccinated Americans for Domestic and International Travel

According to new guidance released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), vaccinated Americans are “at low risk to themselves” for domestic and international travel (via NY Times).

The CDC still recommends that unvaccinated people limit travel to only essential travel, although the reality of the situation is that more than 1 million people are traveling throughout the United States by airplane alone every day.

When traveling while fully vaccinated, the CDC still recommends that people continue to wear masks and maintain physical distancing.

All air passengers coming to the United States, including U.S. citizens and fully vaccinated peopleare required to have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 3 days before travel or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 3 months before they board a flight to the United States.

    People are considered fully vaccinated:

    • 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or
    • 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

The Orlando International Airport is expecting nearly 2 million people to pass through their terminal during Spring Break.
