Orange County Details Timeline for Removing Mask Mandate

As part of an executive order that immediately reduces physical distancing restrictions from 6ft to 3ft, Orange County Florida has outlined their multi-phased approach to rescinding the mask mandate and returning to normal.

    Phase 1

We’re currently in phase 1. In this phase, which went into effect today, physical distancing is reduced from 6ft to 3ft. Mask mandates still remain in effect for all indoor and outdoor spaces. People who are fully vaccinated should follow the recent CDC guidance.

    Phase 2

Phase 2 begins when 50% of the county’s population 16 years or older has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, 35.7% of Orange County residents are vaccinated.

In phase 2, face coverings will no longer be mandated for outdoor areas – regardless of a person’s vaccination status. Facial coverings will still be required in indoor spaces except while eating or drinking.

    Phase 3

Phase 3 will begin when 70% of the county’s population 16 years or older has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, AND the 14-day rolling positivity rate is 5% or lower.

Once Orange County is in phase 3, all mandates will be lifted. It is possible that the county could bounce between phase 2 and phase 3 depending on the 14-rolling positivity rate.

While Walt Disney World follows local, state, and federal guidelines, we don’t expect an immediate removal of face covering rules when the county allows it. It is likely that Disney will continue to err on the side of caution, and keep mask mandates in place beyond when the county lifts the mandate. That said, we do expect Disney to take advantage of the new 3ft physical distancing restrictions in the coming weeks, while mask mandates will likely be in place for months.

    1. This article is a bit misleading. 37.5% of the Orange County Population 16+ has to have their first shot in order to get to Phase 1, which they’re in effective immediately. HOWEVER, Mayor Demmings said that they’re already at 43.4% of their 16+ population with their first shot. This article claims they’re at 37.5% and they’re not. They’re a little closer to the Phase 2 than this article states.

    2. I think Mickey and Co are going to have to nip back to the drawing board and have a rethink.
I think most big corporations (the 4th invisible branch of Government) underestimated just how many people are refusing a vaccine for a virus that have less than a 1.2% death rate.
Big Pharma were relying on this so much too.
      Oh well!

    3. That’s because nothing actually *is* based on science they’re simply making it up as they go along! So many inconsistencies it astounds me at how stupid people are.
But then, George Carlin did say that in his famous quote.
