Disney has officially announced that they will be relocating 2,000 Cast Members within their Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products division from California to Florida.

The Cast Members will be relocated to a new campus in Lake Nona, a move said to have been in the works since 2019. Rumors of the move began circulating earlier this year.

Among the job titles moving to Florida will be Disney’s famed Walt Disney Imagineering group. A small segment of employees will stay back in California to support Disneyland Resort and international Disney Parks operations, but the vast majority of the creative group will be asked to move.

The employees affected by the move, who have an average salary of more than $120,000, will be asked to transition to the Lake Nona campus over the next 18 months. Among benefits listed by Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro is Florida’s no state income tax.

The Walt Disney World Resort, which is located more than 20 miles to the west of Lake Nona Town Center, already employs more than 60,000 Cast Members.
