Tornado Watch Issued for Disney World & Central Florida Today

As sometimes gusty storms move through Central Florida today, the National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for an expansive portion of the state, including all of Walt Disney World. The watch was issued shortly before 9am and is currently set to expire at 3pm.

During the watch hours, the National Weather Service says that a few tornadoes are possible including damaging wind gusts of up to 70mph. A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.

Disney World has not announced any operational changes due to the expected stormy weather, but has a standard operating procedure to close outdoor rides and offerings should conditions be dangerous.

Hail of up to 1″ in diameter is also possible as strong storms move through the area.
