While visiting Disney’s Beach Club Resort yesterday afternoon, we noticed that the culinary team was putting the final touches on an impressive DuckTales-themed gingerbread carousel. Not only is the carousel themed to DuckTales in general, but it is specifically themed to the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure game that guests can play at EPCOT nearby. The carousel contains wonderfully detailed props that guests can spot throughout World Showcase while playing the game.

While we’ll make another trip out to Disney’s Beach Club Resort shortly to see the fully final product, we have a look at a 99% completed carousel and some progress photos of the edible props being installed! If you ever get the chance to watch a gingerbread creation come to life, it’s one of the more magical things you can experience at Disney World. The Cast Members are always happy to chat about what they’re making and it’s not hidden behind a construction wall.

While we showed up in the early afternoon, we heard many guests saying that they saw just the roof being constructed on the floor in the morning, and then after returning from EPCOT there was an entire gingerbread carousel. Being able to watch these talented culinary Cast Members bring an idea to life is a real treat, and I was happy to catch just an hour of work representing the final 3% of months worth of work.

We’ll start with an overview of the carousel as it looked when we left Beach Club yesterday.

Maybe the most magical portion of the installation was when culinary Cast Members invited 23 children to place 23 Hidden Mickey’s wherever they’d like on the carousel to represent the 23-year history of the display.
