American flags around the Walt Disney World theme parks and resorts have returned to full staff today, honoring the inauguration of Donald Trump. The theme park giant sided with Governor Ron DeSantis, who said the State of Florida facilities would return the flags to full staff today after flying them at half staff since December 29th to honor the passing of former President Jimmy Carter.
Disney World Flags Fly at Full Staff to Honor Trump Inauguration
While visiting Magic Kingdom and EPCOT today, we noticed that the American flags at the parks were flying at full staff. Cast Members told us that it was due to the inauguration. Federally, flags are still to be flown at half staff per an order from former President Joe Biden following the passing of former President Jimmy Carter.
We’re told that Disney decided to follow a memo from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who ordered that State of Florida facilities return the American flag to full staff today for the inauguration of President Donald Trump. The DeSantis memo says that flags are to return to half staff tomorrow and we expect that Disney will follow along. The DeSantis memo was written to instruct state facilities to raise the flags.
In the past, Disney has not always aligned with DeSantis’ flag memos, including on a handful of occasions last year alone. Walt Disney World has not returned a request for comment.
