Good morning from Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Earlier this morning, we took a look at some new construction walls along Hollywood Boulevard as Walt Disney World finally gets around to fixing a facade that has been damaged for 2.5 years. Speaking of projects that have dragged on, let’s head over to Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land where a recent spark in construction pace almost overshadows years of work on a seemingly simple project. Let’s take a look at the latest construction update of the new shade structure at Woody’s Lunch Box.
Woody’s Lunch Box Shade Structure Construction
Walt Disney World began construction on creating more shade at Woody’s Lunch Box more than 3 years ago. Now, the project is expanding and moving along at a reasonable clip. Earlier this month, we took a look at the new shade structures being erected in the seating area at the Toy Story Land quick-service venue. Now, we’re back at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for an update on the project, which includes the installation of themed roofing on one of the structures. Here’s a look!
Before we get further into this article, we want to underline that while more shade is needed and the fact that Walt Disney World has acknowledged that is a good thing, this file photo below from earlier in the construction process shows that the structure is only a small portion of the seating area. I don’t think that the populace will be happy if the current structure is where the efforts to add more shade end, but it is at least something.
Back to our visit today, we can see that the roof has been added to one of the new shade structures, and it carries forward the theming found on the upper decorative ledges.
Finally, here’s a look at the structure from a vantage point near the cash registers at Woody’s Lunch Box. In this photo, we can see the new work on the left, while the structure that was installed more than 3 years ago sits, untouched (for now).
