Walt Disney World has announced the return of the Virtual Queue system, but only for a very limited time. Guests looking to purchase merchandise during the May the 4th Star Wars Day celebration at Walt Disney World will need to join a Virtual Queue to enter the shopping experience. This is consistent with how the Virtual Queue has operated in the past.
The last time that a Virtual Queue was used inside a Walt Disney World theme park was February 24th – the day before Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure both opened their standby queues.
Outside of the news of the use of Virtual Queue, it is noteworthy that Walt Disney World is going to utilize the Stage 1 Company Store in Muppets Courtyard. The Stage 1 Company Store is seldom used, and it was believed to be closed permanently ahead of the retheme of Muppets Courtyard into a Monsters Inc.-themed land. While not confirmed, this may be the final opportunity that guests have to enter the space.

Virtual Queue for May the 4th Merchandise Event
May the 4th be with you! Celebrate Star Wars Day—Sunday, May 4, 2025—poring over an exciting mix of new and limited-edition Star Wars-themed items at Stage 1 Company Store in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Items will include adult and youth apparel, collectibles and limited-release pins.
A virtual queue will be in place for this shopping event. Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to take part in the experience.
Guests must have valid admission and, if applicable, a theme park reservation for Disney’s Hollywood Studios to join the virtual queue. Guests can request to join the virtual queue beginning at 7:00 AM Eastern Time on May 4, 2025.
