After 50+ years, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is getting a brand new entrance. It’s a project that has gained little fanfare over the two years that we’ve been covering it, but there also hasn’t been a lot of movement on the resort property…until now. Here’s the latest, and what you can expect when the project is complete!
Construction Begins on New Entrance for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
A lot of the work needed to create this new entrance is actually taking place along public roadways on the perimeter of the resort. Disney is working on creating a new roundabout in the area, along with some new roadways that will dramatically cut into the Magic Kingdom parking lot. It wasn’t until May 2024 that we got our first look at Disney’s plans for the new entrance to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. While we’ve included a photo below, you can find even more details about the permit and planned work in our earlier article.
While driving around property recently, we noticed that not only has a lot of the vegetation hiding Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort from Seven Seas Drive been removed, but the parking lot has also been torn up. Here’s a look at the work from the nearby roadway, looking north toward Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Walt Disney World has previously said that the work is expected to last through the end of 2026. There have been no renderings or concept art released for the new entrance to the resort, but it looks like it has the opportunity to be quite beautiful if done right. This will completely shift the drive-in approach to the resort, giving guests a more direct view of the Great Ceremonial House lobby and entry.
