Good afternoon from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, where it’s never been louder as crews continue working on the Birdcage Bar and assembling furniture. The entire central lobby area is now behind construction walls to allow crews the space to not only assemble and stage the furniture, but to install a brand new showpiece carpet. Here’s a look around!
New Lobby Carpet Installed at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
We’ll start with an overview of the new lobby carpet. Actually, let’s begin with a look at the old lobby carpet first to highlight what is different. In the overview photo below, we can see three distinct pattern areas. One on either end of the lobby area, and one pattern in the middle.
Now, there is a single pattern that stretches the length of the room. It feels busy from above, but we’ll see what it feels like in the next day or two when the area opens to guests.
New Grand Floridian Lobby Furniture
As you may have spotted, there is all-new furniture being installed too! One thing I wish I could share via photos is the smell of the lobby right now. It smells of new carpet and new furniture. A lovely departure from sawdust and dirt. Here’s a closer look at the new Grand Floridian lobby furniture!
Birdcage Bar Update
A smaller update for the Birdcage Bar now. Wood grain continues to be installed, with more staged nearby. The first bit of stained glass has been installed, too. Surely the lobby seating area will open long before the bar, but it’ll be interesting to see if Disney goes back to a traditional wood construction wall here, or if they stick with the curtains.
