Disneyland Files Permit for New 8-Story, 3.2 Million Sqft Parking Structure for Eastern Gateway DisneylandForward Project

|

The Disneyland Resort has filed a new permit today for an 8-story parking garage. The parking structure is part of the previously announced eastern gateway transportation hub near Harbor Boulevard. The new parking structure is, essentially, the first step in the DisneylandForward plans to substantially expand the existing theme parks at the resort over the coming decades. Here’s the latest!

Disneyland Files Permit for 8-Story Parking Garage

The new permit calls for the construction of a new core and shell for a 3.2 million sqft parking structure. Disneyland has previously announced that the new area will provide approximately 6,000 parking spaces, shuttle and rideshare areas, security screening, and dedicated access for traffic off of Disney Way, improving parking and traffic flow throughout the resort area.

As you can see from the artist concept rendering below, this new parking and transportation hub will also feature a pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard, leading to an all-new esplanade arrival experience. This pedestrian bridge will also provide convenient public access to and from Harbor Boulevard.

These enhanced parking, transit, and arrival offerings are the first step in our next phase of construction, creating the infrastructure necessary to prepare for future growth and to welcome more guests as new experiences are added – including two all-new attractions that will double the size of Avengers Campus, plus the new “Coco”-themed ride and Avatar destination coming to Disney California Adventure park. The multi-year construction of this new arrival experience is slated to begin in fall of 2026.

Additional details from the permit include that there will be a whopping 302 electric vehicle chargers in the parking structure.

Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2026 and take a number of years to be completed.

Here’s a look at where we believe the new parking structure will be located. Exact details and concept art of the parking garage have not yet been released.
