Walt Disney World Says Cinderella Castle Repainting Has Begun, No Signs of Work Yet

|

A new notice on the Walt Disney World website says that Cinderella Castle is “currently undergoing a magical transformation”. We visited Magic Kingdom this morning to find no signs of work, but it is likely that work will begin soon. Here’s the latest.

Cinderella Castle Repainting to Begin Shortly

As a reminder, Cinderella Castle is being repainted back to its “classic” look after years of a sort of rose pink look to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Cinderella film. The repainting is expected to be completed later this year.

If you were to just read the notice, you would think that a repainting has already begun. However, we wanted to visit Magic Kingdom this morning to get a look for ourselves. As it turns out, there is no visible progress. It’s possible that work will begin soon, and Walt Disney World wanted to provide guests with advance notice. Here’s a look at the notice, followed by the next expected steps, and a look at Cinderella Castle this foggy Monday morning.

As previously announced, the first phase of the project will be a draining of the moat around Cinderella Castle. As of this morning, there is no visible progress on this phase of the work, much less a repainting.

Here’s a look at what Cinderella Castle looks like this morning.

Looking better already

It’s a bit foggy this morning, which means no shadows on the castle, making today a great day for photos, if a bit unphotogenic.
