Dark Blue Painting Underway On Cinderella Castle Roofs

|

With the vast majority of the body of Cinderella Castle painted, work is now focused on painting the roofs a deeper shade of blue. Crews are still utilizing the high reach cranes during the morning hours, and we made it out to Magic Kingdom this morning to take a look at the latest progress.

Cinderella Castle Roof Repainting

Our first set of photos was taken just before rope drop. One of the emerging themes of this repainting is just how different the color looks when it is not in direct sunlight. In direct sunlight, the Castle looks great. However, when there is cloud cover or an overcast sky, the greys get deeper, changing the look of the Castle.

As we’ll see, crews were focused on repainting the roofs of Cinderella Castle, and the paint is a deeper blue than what is currently found on a number of turrets. If I had to guess, the blue is actually the same shade of blue as before, but the difference in color shading is due to the natural fading that occurs under the baking Central Florida sun.

Here are some more photos as the sun started to cut through the high-level clouds.

  1. Does this type of repaint needs a second coat ? I have no knowledge of that. It looks it could be done very soon

  2. I’m certain that Walt himself would approve! Hard to believe he passed away 60 years ago this year.
